WOODBURY, Minnesota, USA, October 24, 2023 – Self Esteem Brands (SEB), the parent company of a global portfolio of fitness, health and wellness franchise brands is pleased to share key Q3 2023 results for Anytime Fitness. The results, just ahead of the Anytime Fitness Conference hosting more than 2,000 franchise owners from around the world, underscore continued member growth, franchisee performance and strong demand for both in-club access and personalized fitness, health and wellness services.

As of the end of the third quarter 2023, Anytime Fitness franchise locations in 18 countries reported double-digit increases in same-store sales over the same period in 2022. Our franchise owners are delivering these results in communities worldwide, and we are motivated to reach more people than ever and help improve their physical and mental wellbeing.”

WOODBURY, Minnesota, USA, July 27, 2023 – Self Esteem Brands (SEB), the parent company of a global portfolio of fitness, health and wellness franchise brands with more than 5,500 locations around the world, is pleased to announce Q2 2023 results that show strong continued growth, global footprint expansion and franchisee performance.

“We continue to see major whitespace growth opportunities for all of our franchise brands, both domestically and worldwide,” said Chuck Runyon, CEO, Self Esteem Brands. “Our performance at midyear shows this, and we are moving with intention and purpose to expand our services to help millions more people on their personal health and wellness journeys while we help cultivate successful franchise owners.”

Basecamp Fitness
With strong fundamentals to-date in 2023 and nearly 70 franchises sold in markets across the U.S., the Basecamp Fitness brand is achieving domestic market scale as it moves into its high-growth phase. Basecamp is poised to open studios in multiple new markets this year, including Orlando and Jacksonville, Fla., San Diego, Calif., Kansas City, Kan. and Edgewater, N.J.

The brand is attracting franchisees who are squarely focused on driving solid business performance and maximizing franchisor resources for growth. Jenna Behnke, who, with her husband Chad, co-owns a Basecamp Fitness franchise in Woodbury, Minn., USA, reports that their location has almost tripled in-studio visits year-over-year compared with 2022. The studio just hit its highest month of revenue in June 2023 – and is on pace to break that record this month – and grew active memberships year-over-year by 36%.

“We have experienced steady growth month over month in both membership acquisition and recurring revenue,” Behnke said. “We were poised for growth from the start of the year thanks to a successful January marketing campaign; not only did it provide our studio with accelerated growth in less than 90 days, but it also provided learnings that were applicable for the following months, allowing us to be more adaptable and strategic.”

The brand is also enjoying strong new and existing member engagement: Basecamp locations saw a 20% Increase in registrations over 2022 for its annual Summer Challenge, where Basecamp members across the U.S. compete for prizes during the month of July.

Basecamp is now the first portfolio studio brand to offer franchising opportunities outside the U.S. In the second quarter, Self Esteem Brands unveiled SUMHIIT Fitness – the twin brand of Basecamp Fitness – at the FIT Summit in Singapore, signaling its intentions to broaden the global footprint of its portfolio.

Anytime Fitness
The first half of 2023 has been a record breaker for Anytime Fitness. Same-store sales across franchise locations are 10% higher than the first half of 2022, exceeding a goal of 7.4% with attrition of memberships at an all-time low. The end of Q2 also shows 60% of domestic Anytime Fitness members sharing health data via the AF SmartCoaching technology platform launched in Q1, accessible via the AF app (which boasts a 4.8-star rating among thousands of reviews). Bookings for group training also reached an all-time high in Q2, with an explosive 400% increase over Q1 2023.

Anytime Fitness also continues to enjoy incredible franchise sales growth and momentum, with two-thirds of franchise unit sales to date made by existing Anytime Fitness franchisees. The pace reinforces the popularity of health and wellness franchising as well as the continued strength of the brand: simple operations, smaller real estate footprint and emphasis on personal training, nutrition coaching and overall health and wellness metrics for members.

Waxing the City
Waxing the City has to-date in 2023 sold 71 new locations across the U.S. – nearly three times ahead of annual plan, with a forecast to open more than 30 additional studio locations by end of year. The brand also made recent changes within studios to modernize its menu of services and be more relevant for all types of members, from male and female services to face & body services. These changes make the services relevant for all types of members, easier for consumers to navigate, and allow studio cerologists to provide services with greater confidence and the best experience for clients. Overall satisfaction of clients remains greater than 93%, and the engagement of our Club Orange members is north of 95%.

The Bar Method
The Bar Method continues to rebound and will soon surpass its pre-COVID unit-level revenue benchmark that sets the high-water mark for the barre industry.  With the recent launch of its newest formats, Bar Method Cardio and Bar Strength, the brand expects to keep clients engaged even longer with a variety of offerings.

International
In Q2, Anytime Fitness granted a new master franchise agreement in France marking continued Europe expansion in 2023 and the 42nd country or territory where the brand operates worldwide.

WOODBURY, Minnesota, USA, April 27, 2023 – Self Esteem Brands (SEB), the parent company of a global portfolio of fitness, health and wellness franchise brands with more than 5,500 locations around the world, has announced several Q1 2023 results that showcase strong growth and franchisee performance.

Waxing the City on pace to double year-over-year openings, development agreements
Waxing the City, a leading personal care franchise providing head-to-toe waxing services, is trending to more than double units sold year over year following a strong quarter. With 18 locations awarded in Q1 2023 and 145 units now open across the U.S., the brand is also on track to launch 30 locations in 2023 – twice the amount opened in 2022.

“Our business model aligns with current beauty industry trends and meets the expectations of current and prospective franchisees,” said Nick Herrild, president, Studio Division/Waxing the City, Self Esteem Brands. “The industry is fast-growing and Waxing the City offers a simple model and low staff requirement that has made it particularly attractive in a challenging labor market. Our Q1 numbers indicate strong growth, but it’s just the beginning and we look forward to adding new franchisees to the family later this year.”

In addition to its strong pipeline, Waxing the City has now experienced 13 consecutive quarters of positive sales growth and is building franchisee average unit volume (AUV) with a focus on retail sales, Club Orange loyalty memberships and advanced service offerings. In addition to strong multiyear growth, the brand has maintained extremely high overall client satisfaction scores with 94% of consumers saying they are highly satisfied with their service results and experience visiting the studio.

International growth with rapidly expanding Anytime Fitness global footprint
Total revenue in the first quarter for same-store sales across Anytime Fitness international locations reached 19%, an all-time high, while average member numbers per club neared 1,000, exceeding pre-pandemic numbers. In Q1, the world’s largest fitness club franchise added a master franchisee in Austria, evidence of further acceleration in the Master portfolio. Anytime Fitness is enjoying solid international market recovery with strong interest in the Anytime Fitness brand and expects to further expand its footprint within Europe, the Middle East and Asia over the coming months. Anytime Fitness now has clubs operating in 40 countries and territories around the world.

“Anytime Fitness is truly a global brand and we’re continuing to explore growth in key countries and territories across several continents,” said David Mortensen, co-founder of Anytime Fitness and president, Self Esteem Brands. “In just two decades, we’ve grown Anytime Fitness from one location into the largest fitness franchise brand in the world. We’ll continue to expand and meet the growing demand to help more people achieve their holistic fitness, health and wellness goals.”

Additional Q1 2023 Brand Highlights

Anytime Fitness
Domestically, Anytime Fitness launched its AF SmartCoaching technology in Q1, which can now be accessed by domestic members via the AF app anytime, anywhere. Personal training revenue reached a 13-month high at the end of the first quarter, with record highs in topline revenue at the end of March and rolling 12-month attrition tied for the lowest ever on record.

As Anytime Fitness places an added focus on providing members with personalized coaching services both inside and outside a club, franchisee interest continues to grow: the brand added 24 domestic units to the pipeline in Q1 with double-digit club openings planned for the rest of 2023.

Basecamp Fitness
Basecamp Fitness, a hyper-condensed high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that packs 50 minutes of supercharged exercise in only 35, continues to showcase strong performance with year-over-year growth of Q1 systemwide sales exceeding 40%.

Basecamp Fitness is also experiencing double-digit same-store sales growth and opened new studios in Detroit, Mich. and Orlando, Fla. in the first quarter, with locations under construction in Jacksonville, Fla., San Diego, Calif., Kansas City, Missouri and Apple Valley, Minn.

The Bar Method
The Bar Method is the most targeted and effective barre workout in the market and is now on pace to sell and open more U.S. franchised locations in 2023 than the past two years combined. This is in part a result of the brand’s double-digit increase in same store sales in Q1 and high level of franchisee satisfaction.

Additionally, The Bar Method welcomed 30 percent more new clients to the brand in Q1 2023 than Q1 2022 and debuted its Bar Method Cardio class format, which expands the brand’s class formats and will help add new clients throughout the year.

Anytime Fitness
Anytime Fitness has been both one of the fastest-growing franchises and fastest-growing health club brands in history. On average between 2013 and 2022, an Anytime Fitness club opened somewhere in the world every 19 hours.

Anytime Fitness members enjoy global reciprocity, where they can access any club across 35 countries. Every day, over 50,000 members use a different Anytime Fitness club than the one they joined. Basecamp Fitness:
Effective and efficient is in the DNA of Basecamp Fitness, a high intensity interval training (HIIT) studio concept. While a 2020 U.S. Department of Health study found American adults averaged less than 50 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous exercise, the average Basecamp member more than doubled this key metric in 2022. Additionally, Basecamp’s proprietary mobile app, in partnership with Apple, tracked over 500,000 workouts amongst its members in 2022, who burned a combined 200 million calories.

The Bar Method:
The Bar Method is the most targeted and effective barre workout in the market. The studio brand hit a milestone last year of 1 million unique clients served since its inception, plus as compared to pre-pandemic levels, clubs saw an 18% increase in 2022 classes taken per client over 2019.

Stronger U:
Stronger U, the virtual health and nutrition service which Self Esteem Brands acquired in 2021, also showed evidence of improvements in health and wellness outcomes. In 2022, nine out of 10 Stronger U members who completed weekly check-ins for 3 months reported an improvement in their body composition, increased confidence, and felt the program prepared them for long term success better than other weight loss programs. The average Stronger U member lost 15 pounds in their first 12 weeks.
